The Majestic Giants.

The Majestic giant, as it is a mountain of muscles, the Elephant is the largest mammal that has ever walked the earth surface. They have speciated into three recognised species, which are; the African Bush elephants, African forest elephants and the Asian elephants. However, the African Bush elephants is the largest of all. Despite their speciation in disjunct locations they still exhibits similar social and biological characteristics.

Just like human instinct for social coordination, where group of people have a leader to spearhead the society and governs its affairs. Elephants also lives in family groups which consists of mostly females (cows) with their young calves. The group is led by the eldest female in the group onow as the "Matriarch Elephant". The Matriarch through her old age, she gains life experience than any other female in the group, she will know what to do in time of drought, thirst, predation and herbs to prescribe when medical issues arises in the group.

The Matriarch remains leader of the group until death or if she no longer has the energy for the role; a study on zoo elephants showed that when the matriarch died, the levels of faecal corticosterone ('stress hormone') dramatically increased in the surviving elephants. When her tenure is over, the matriarch's eldest daughter takes her place; this occurs even if her sister is present. One study found that younger matriarchs are more likely than older ones to under-react to severe danger. Family groups may split after becoming too large for the available resources.

The social life of the male bulls is very different. When he matures, he spends more of his time at the edge of his group and associates with outside males or even other families. Young males spend over 80% of their time away from their families when they are 14–15. When males permanently leave, they either live alone or with other males. The former is typical of bulls in dense forests. Asian males are usually solitary, but occasionally form groups of two or more individuals; the largest consisted of seven bulls.

Elephants communicate by touch,smell, sights and use of ears within themselves. In long distances seismic communications is administered.

The brain of these elephants appears to have more advance temporal lobes than that of a man. A ratio of 4:1 respectively. They display emotions and empathy.

Today, elephants are threatened by poachers who kills them for their tusk for ivory trade. The closest species to elephants are hydrates, sieranians and menatees.
